Digital Accessibility

Description
Many of us are familiar with accessibility features in the physical space; a public restroom that accommodates people who use wheelchairs, or a crosswalk signal that produces visual cues and sounds. This same principle can be applied to digital content to ensure all users have equal access to information and services.

People with disabilities use assistive technologies that can help them navigate the physical and digital world. However, assistive technologies can only remove barriers if they are created to be accessible. For product designers and developers, this means that there must be carefully chosen coding languages, appropriate color schemes, layouts, and structure to be accessible.

This course was designed as an introduction to digital accessibility. It covers the basics and principles of digital accessibility, proposed rulemaking related to requirements for web accessibility, writing and designing for web accessibility, as well as requirements and standards for audio and video assets, and lastly, ways to improve web accessibility. (Approximate time: 90 Min Total)
